VAS Has Home, Thanks to Dorn Homes. David and Ellen Grounds, owners of Dorn Homes, have provided a permanent home for Valley Assistance Services (VAS), a local private non-profit that serves the rural communities of Green Valley, Sahuarita, Amado, Arivaca, Tubac and Tumacacori. For over forty years, VAS has been your helping hand forward for seniors and families through programs that build resilience, self-sufficiency, independence and an improved quality of life—all supported by generous donors in our communities.
The Ground’s donation of the 4,341 square foot office building located at 3950 S. Camino del Heroe in the Springs community, just inside the south belltower at Santa Rita Springs (Green Valley) will now house the staff and volunteers who work at VAS.
Dorn Homes began building homes and developing neighborhoods in Green Valley in 1991. Together with Michael and Linda Dorn, David and Ellen Grounds, Dorn Homes became the #1 selling builder in Green Valley and Sahuarita. The Grounds became sole owners in 1999. Over the years the Company has developed over 20 local communities and built thousands of new homes. The Grounds and Dorns donated the land for both the Green Valley Food Bank and Fire Station on Continental Road at Abrego, and have been active contributors to numerous local charities over the past 23 years. The Board Room at our new office will have these words displayed on the wall: “Developing Dreams, Building Futures and Paying It Forward”, continuing the visions made by the Dorn and Grounds Families.
Dorn Homes is actively building homes in Green Valley, Sahuarita, Tubac, and partners with Fairfield Homes in building Solterra and Canoa Ranch. During the recession, Dorn branched into Northern Arizona and is now the largest new home builder in Prescott, Sedona and Prescott Valley.
